Sonic Dice officially went live in January 2008. It was created following a brainstorming session between one frustrated freelance writer itching to expand on his own work and one friend who was eager to help out and get himself more involved in music and the web. Their shared love of music ended up being the solution.
Sonic Dice now covers many different genres of music with an emphasis on metal, rock, and indie, the experimental and the alternative. In particular, there are some genres that won’t receive coverage until a reviewer with suitable knowledge of that scene can be hired to do the reviews justice. We are also keen to focus on emergent bands within each genre so that we can bring to you tomorrow’s promising noises as opposed to yesterday’s fading lights.
We mainly cover Album, EP and Gig reviews but have been known to occasionally publish the odd promising Demo. If we hear of what we consider to be important News stories we’ll bring you those too. Also, if there is one particular band or record label who we feel our readers need to know more about we’ll set up an Interview to get the inside track.
Generally, everything we review will get a score based on the six faces of a dice. A score of “One” means it’s pretty much toilet, a score of “Six” means it’s the mutt’s nuts. However, please take note that anything each reviewer says is based on their own personal experience and not necessarily the experience of Sonic Dice. Each of our reviews contains the individual opinions of the reviewer which do not necessarily coincide with everyone who writes on Sonic Dice.
If you have any ideas on what you want to see on the site or would like to send us anything to review or discuss, feel free to contact us - remember, we want this to be your Sonic Dice as much as it ours. Our contact e-mail is contact@sonicdice.com. Although, we’ve also got satellite spaces at MySpace, Facebook, Last Fm and Flickr so you may also find us there.
Keep on rollin’ them bones,
John and Rich.
