Single Review: Young*Husband

Single: Could They Be Jealous Of Us
Label: Culture Deluxe

Young HDue for release on November 26th under the Culture Deluxe label this is Young*Husband’s debut single. Watford-born singer-songwriter, Euan Hinshelwood, just out of his teens, has an impressively confident vocal when you consider that the natural introverted nature he confesses to has previously held him back. Everything behind the vocal is simple and assured. An acoustic guitar strummed gently and without frills is complemented by a warbling lead riff and, later, a lilting Irish whistle. Taking Seneca’s quote that “life is like a play” to heart, he’s expanded the theme suggesting the “jealous” of the title are “reciting the speeches with no need to think”. It’s a gentle opening gambit and one that shows immense promise.
